This document defines the startup configuration for a medium scale underground gold mine powered by solar energy combined with a diesel generator (no battery storage). The design minimizes capital cost while maintaining industrial reliability. Batteries can be added later without replacing inverters. 1. Solar Array Installed capacity: 75 kWp Panel size: 550 W Panel quantity: 136 units Mounting: Ground steel structure Expected sun hours: 5 hrs/day 4. Inverter + Generator Hybrid inverters: 3 × 20 kW (60 kW total) Diesel generator: 60 kVA Generator operates as virtual battery during clouds and motor starting. 5. Motor Control Crusher and ball mill MUST use VFD (variable frequency drives). Benefits: • 60% startup current reduction • Stable solar blending • Longer motor life • Prevent inverter trips 6. System Architecture Solar Panels → Hybrid Inverters → Mining Loads Diesel Generator → Hybrid Inverters (Auto Assist) Solar always supplies first. Generator adds only missing power. 7. Production Estimate Crusher throughput: 3–5 tons/hour Daily ore processing: ~30 tons (single shift) Monthly production: ~900 tons 8. Cost Estimate (USD) Solar panels $25,000 Hybrid inverters $20,000 Mounting + BOS $15,000 60 kVA Generator $12,000 VFD + cabinets $6,000 TOTAL ≈ $75,000 9. Operating Strategy Phase■1 (Startup): Solar + Generator only Phase■2 (Later): Add 200–300 kWh battery for night milling Same inverters support future battery upgrade.
